Studio Day 3
Typography with sticks and Riso!
For a studio day three we had to create typography with sticks and then we had to try and develop them into digitally or with printed techniques and for that I picked the Riso-graph this is because I felt like I could make the most experimentation with this technique and I wanted to explore other variations of That I explore different colour schemes in different settings from experimenting with the Riso, for this task I really enjoyed because it enable me to go wild basically I was able to go my own rates and I didn't really have to think too much.
For this design it was very neat and almost like how you write with a pen I wanted to do that because I wanted to try and create a bit of a fancy phone and wanted to hopefully develop this into an actual typeface if I got time if not then I hope to try and do this in the near future this typeface is very simple and legible and it's to the point as well I feel like this typeface works because it's quite clean but at the same time I had feedback from my peers and tutors saying how it's tiny how I can and should just experiment more and not be afraid to have a bit of a play with it and to maybe try other techniques when I'm creating the typeface. So I listened to my peer and tutor feedback and got more adventurous, here's some more of my Typography with sticks:
The B Sticks
I created this out of pure randomness and was my mood at the time to get messy with this design and as you can see I created the letter B in this design.

Whilst standing on a chair. (Using my Right hand)
I experimented further with this process of writing with sticks by writing the alphabet with my right hand with sticks, (Large sticks) whilst standing on a char as I wanted to mess around a bit and it was harder to do because of the size of the sticks and how far away I was from the paper, the joke was said by Anne about writing with sticks social distancing and funny enough this is something I said, Imagine writing with sticks social distancing, how would you even do this?" and Anne said to me "Think we're going off topic now" which was the first tutorial session we had for Social Cultural Context Project and I think it's funnily ironic that I gave this challenge a shot to see what happens.

Whilst standing on a chair. (Using my Left hand)
This was harder to do than I expected it to be, as its my right hand because I usually find myself writing with my right hand therefore it was more challenging, luckily for me I have experience in writing with my left hand through dislocating my elbow years ago, (Please don't ask how!) but it enabled me to experiment and write with my left hand and then I just learnt I was able to still write left handed but doing this design above tested my motor skills you could say and my hand-eye- co-ordination as I was using large sticks and standing on the table, but it was fun.
This here is My Attempt of writing the Alphabet Blindfolded with two long sticks A3 Paper and ink. Whilst standing on a chair. This was a challenging one as it made me think more and it made me tempted to peep and I was experiencing paranoia when I was creating this incase I fell off the chair or incase I drew on someone else's work, but it was more fun if anything else.
You could say with this study day I got a bit carried away with this part of the project because I had a bit of fun as when I tried to create some tired I went to the eyes of his fingerprints just to try and create lettering to see what you look like to see if it worked well or not this experiment was very simple and the polar opposite of what I created above which is very interesting because it looks like animal fun of it and you can still read the typeface that it's just unique and not what you normally see as a typeface. Sadly I only got up to the letter N. As I struggled with filling up the page and I didn't have an awful lot of time to spare with this part of the project although I do hope to maybe develop this further into the full alphabet somehow.
Riso Printing
This was the next stage of developing these typefaces I made with sticks to see what happens and what I can create. I wanted to use this process as it is one I have a lining for and I don't use this form of experimentation very often, only if I am in the Uni as I don't know anyone or anywhere else that has access to one of these printers.
I then decided to develop these designs further with the Riso Printer where I can experiment further with layering and creating artwork with blends of different colours. This was fun to do as it was fun to experiment and explore, to develop my working practice.

A-Z Left handed alphabet Riso experiment
I like how these were laid out with the two colours overlapping to create a sense of 3 Dimensional aesthetics to this print, making the lettering jump out at you.
Blue and Pink
The blue version is very bold, legible and simplistic whereas the pink design is less legible where the light is reflected on-top the design but if it wasn't for that it is very legible and these designs are very unique to each other the pink is very luminous and it is very bright whereas the blue is very dark and dominant.
