Moving text: The Daily Cough
The Daily Cough Video: Moving Text
Moving image I learnt how to put together through Jordan's workshop the other week.
He showed us how to put motion text together on After effects and then because it was quite a struggle for me to pick up unfortunately I was only able to learn the one moving text and here were the notes he took for each step. I hope to learn the other variations for the Developing self unit.
Here is Jordan's notes below:
1: Choose a handwriting-like font
2: Select the pen tool. Making sure the text layer is selected, start drawing over the letters.
3: Effect > Generate > Stroke
4: Increase brush size on the stroke. Change paint style to ‘Reveal original image’
5: Click stopwatch for ‘end’, press U for keyframes and drag the keyframe to the end of the animation (6 seconds)
6: Drag the playhead to the beginning of the animation and change value to 0%

The Daily Cough: Front Page with Moving text
Here is the motion image. I put this altogether on an Abode programme called the following:
Adobe Spark for the layout of the front-page, the music with my recording of a cough at the end, for the comical effect!
After Effects for the motion graphics & Typographic Animation.
and then creating the cinema illustration on illustrator and the COVID 19 sign on Adobe Dimensions. You could say I used Manu of the Adobe programmes to pull this off.
The name of the newspaper came about after experimenting with logo design ideas for the newspaper and I came up with The Daily Cough as a Micky take on The Daily Mail, I wanted to take the Micky and put a bit of pastiche into the mix and use a bit of play on words. Here is the logo designs I created for the newspaper below:
The reason why I didn't go with the logos was because when I learnt how to do the motion graphics the logos were out of the question ultimately.
