Things to consider for target audiences
There are many key things to consider for target audiences such as the following examples below:Target Audience Targets
I think the thing with Target Audience it is a question of suitability as well depending on what you create you have to research about your topic before knowing who your audiences are, it could be you do a topic about one thing and could be put across to many different audiences, could be more than one or simply be just one audience. I think it depends entirely on what you're going to create and depends on the brief you're given but here's some main things to consider when I associate with for target audiences below:
- Category- When I put category I mean as in children, adults, teens, OAPs etc.
- Age- Meaning products/advertisement is aimed suited for different age groups like 0-10, 11-20,21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 60+ kind of thing.
- People's Needs- In a graphic design aspect for that would mean, to consider people are blind, which could mean creating posters in Brail, if people are epileptic, to not use flashing lights. Etc. I feel like a lot of what gets created for an audience souly depends on their personalities too and looking into trends and what is the next new thing and what isn't.
- Employability- This is a type of audience as if people will ask for advertisement for their companies, ie- self employed or business people etc or even making advertisement suited for those who are unemployed also.
- Religion- meaning that there could be designs, products etc aimed for people depending on religion ie- if something is to do with Christmas or Easter or even something relating to churches or cathedrals, or people who are Hindu or even jewish for instance, to consider if people are religious if a topic could involve religion.
- Tradition- people may design products and advertisement for traditional reasons ie- events like Day of the dead, Chinese new year Christmas etc.
- Culture- Similarly to tradition, some things you design maybe aimed towards people around the world- IE brands like MC Donalds. that is aimed towards people across the world.
- Types of people- when I say types of people what I mean by that is people's statuses, you know the typical what labels were given back in the school days, relating to our personalities, such as, Geeks, Nerds, Jocks, Spotaholics, artsy and creative, Brainy and academic, the punks and goths, the Gay pride etc. There is some truth to that list and the things I have bullet pointed above these are things you would in the real world have to consider, but I also Personally, I feel target audience can be quite surjective and can be very controversial and it is hard to give something like a movie, a place or a book or music a specific audience really, because the way you have to look at it is to be more out of the box thinking, as in you can't second guess what someone may like or dislike- it is a matter of opinion, people's judgement and what their makeup is basically.
